Tune Money Visa Debit Card - Another Option For PayPal Withdrawal??
Today I read the local paper about the official launch of Tune Money Visa Debit Card. Seems like we have another option for PayPal withdrawal, haven't we? So, I quickly check out the Tune Money's website and find out the details about this cards.
Below information are what you can get from the new Visa Debit Card.
- Instant online approval
- No interest fees
- Cash withdrawal at ATM machines worldwide
- No late charges
- View your transactions online on real time
- No income checks
There is an annual fee of RM9.99 for the basic card, besides the fees for lost / replacement / damaged card as well as other charges: ![]()
Like some other overseas debit cards, it is not free to perform the transactions, you got to pay RM0.10 - RM20.00 for different charges. ![]()
If you keen to get this card, you can apply online with 2 conditions:
1. Must be above 18 years old
2. You must not come from high risk nature business such as casinos and junket operator.
Initial RM50.00 top-up is required when you apply for the card, you can to-up your card by using online or offline payment. Make sure your browsers are javascript enabled so that it won't interrupt the registration process.
Just wondering are these 2 business allow to operate in Malaysia?
It could be another option for According to Azlan aka Lankapo that this card work for PayPal local withdrawal. If Tune Money Debit Card works out able to help us to withdraw Paypal fund, indeed, it is another good news for us as SOHO who keen to know more options for us. Apparently I believe it is not ready for PayPal yet. According to the TuneMoney.com, the cash back, international money remittances and other features is not ready yet. I would say this is very much a basic card. Like the slogan of its parent company, AirAsia; everyone can apply Tune card now! In conjunction to this official launching, Tune Money is offering 1,000 free cards, grab it before the offer is over.
Tune Money has announced earlier on about the launch of the debit card. Mark & Alex have actually put up the write up earlier on in August & September, 2007.
May 2008 Updates: Finally I applied for Tune Money card this month after heard that E-Trade (US Bank) temporary block Malaysians from ATM withdrawal. It was quite fast during the online application process, took me less than 10 minutes to register. However, they are very specific registration such as login username and password must contains letter and numbers. I see that requirement is good but is a bit troublesome. People might just forget it sometimes later, I hope I won't forget mine sooner or later. I will walk in to Pos Malaysia to collect my card on tomorrow.

This is really good news, I've made my initial load to Tune Money today, what I know, I can pick up my card at my chosen Pos Malaysia branch after 7-10 working days…. I can't wait for that, My paypal account has amounted to 55 dollar and I don't know what to do with the money because I don't have any interest in shopping online…he he he
May 11, 2008
Steven Wong @ 8:39 pm:
Lankapo: Thanks for the updates.
Jey Tren & Sabre: Have you guys applied and collected your Tune Card?
May 13, 2008
Sabre @ 6:37 pm:
I've collected my card and I've added Tune Card in my paypal account, but paypal need confirmation, they've taken out from my card $1.++ and they said they'll return it back after I've inserts confirmation code in my card transactions, I've check my online transactions, yes my balance has decreased but, when I view the transactions, it not shown any information about the transaction except for my first initial load and fees, is it said that I can view my transactions online real time? How I'm going to verify my paypal accounts? Did tunemoney will sending me monthly statements so I can see the verification number from it so I can verify my paypal? Arhhhh… tension!!!!!
Steven Wong @ 10:22 pm:
Sabre: You got to check with Tune card whether they provide statement or not. For verification purpose, I think you should charge to a card that you have online banking or statement access. Otherwise, it is quite difficult.
Sabre @ 11:38 pm:
I've called their customer care exec, they said it should take about 2-3 days before we can see the details about the transactions. So I want to ask, is it really it's will take about 2-3 days before we can see the transactions? Please tell me step-by-step in verifying my PayPal using Tune Card, how many days it's takes, I heard a lot of people successfully verified their PayPal but I still don't understand how they do it, I don't waste my phone bills keep calling Tune Card CC to know about it, please, anyone experienced? I really want to cash out my PayPal money since I'm not online shopper….uwaaaaaaa!!!!:p

Zairi Zaidi @ 9:43 am:
i think it's not a debit card but prepaid card
June 29, 2008
Steven Wong @ 11:06 pm:
Hello Zairi,
Debit Card and prepaid card are the same.
July 5, 2008
Gotcha @ 1:56 pm:
Hello StevenWong,
Debit and Prepaid cards are not the same! Debit card will immediately debit your bank account. It is linked to a bank account. Whereas, Prepaid cards are valid only on the amount you 'pre-pay' into it. It's like a phone reload for prepaid phones. The exception is probably the Public Bank Visa Electron. It is considered a 'debit' card (if you have a Public Bank account) but it is also a 'prepaid'.
Steven Wong @ 6:49 pm:
Hi Gotcha,
If you ask me, does it important? Whatever it is, either debit or prepaid card; it doesn't matter to me.
End of the day, I just want get my fund withdraw from PP. That's all. Whatever you name, you choose it.

Hi u all..

i try to key in the number in paypal…cannot!!! still shown
This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.
can someone help me??
Steven Wong @ 9:02 pm:
Lisa: Are you sure you have activated your Tune Money card? Once you got your card from Pos office, you need to login to Tune Money website to activate the card. Received the card doesn't mean activated already.
Can you try again?
sbjsabre @ 10:43 pm:
If I given two option whether to receive my online income payment via cheque or PayPal, I'll choose PayPal..with Tune Card existence, that options is the best, it only takes 3 days to withdraw my money from PayPal to Tune Card…
In addition, I've bad experience in clearing foreign cheque with Public Bank Berhad… 2 months ago, I've deposited my online income cheque (foreign cheque) in my Public Bank saving account, normally, after about 1 month, I can withdraw the money to pay my monthly bills as usual I've done before, but this time, it has been 5 weeks and I still didn't receive my money in my account.
So I go to the nearest Public Bank and ask about my foreign cheque status, their customer services officer said, it's depend to their HQ at KL, they can't do anything about it, then I've called Public Bank HQ at KL but no answer, where the hell their CC officer gone, then I surf their official website at http://www.pbebank.com and send contact form asking about my cheque status, they never replied…
A few days later, I went again to nearest Public Bank and ask about my cheque status since Its still not deposited in my account, their CC officer said, they has sent about my problems to their HQ at KL but still no follow up received. On the next day, they've called me and told me that my cheque has lost in transit by their mistakes, they didn't even apologize, just told me to go and sign a declaration about the loss, sorry!! I'll never go until I've get back my cheque that will be reissued by the issuer…
With this experience, I'll NEVER BELIEVE PUBLIC BANK anymore….Luckily, when I check my PayPal balance, there are $78.12 available, I withdraw it to my Tune Card and 3 days later, I can withdraw it at CIMB ATM and pay my monthly bills as usual…

LISA @ 8:37 am:
STeven.. my card active already..but still cannot verified in my paypal..is it because my card balance not enough to verify?
Card Number Card Balance Card Status Card Expiry Date
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX RM -9.99 Active 06/13
Steven Wong @ 10:20 am:
Lisa: Obviously you need to contact Tune Money and clarify that as your debit card show -ve balance.
sbjsabre: Well, that's the issue on foreign bank check clearance. Try to get an US bank account and you will find that you can get in 2 weeks or less, depends on how fast your check can reach US after you received here.
sbjsabre @ 12:26 pm:
yeah, but for real, Tune Card only takes 3 days. Like I've stated before, if all my online income can choose PayPal payout, I'll choose PayPal, thanks to Tune Card, now I've enjoyed every Dollars I've earn in PayPal. Fast and better conversion rates even PayPal have deducted $5….nice!!!
lisa @ 3:26 pm:
i'm confius with my card balance… my first time reload the card before the card active.. i reload RM 100.. after i activated the card.. im very shock why my balance only have -RM -9.99 ..why not RM 90.01?? i already email to tunemoney .. wait 4 reply!
July 9, 2008
lisa @ 8:23 pm:

UnTuned @ 11:22 am:
hmmmm… so much hype about its efficiency. I applied on 27th May 2008 and today is 19th July 2008 still not getting the card. Of course my first discovery was after 1 hour queue at POS Malaysia only to know its not ready.
Anyway, we'll see when I will eventually get the card. BTW, I called twice. 1st call they say that they have having technical problem embossing the card. 2nd call they say the server is having problem. I guess, thay have a lot of problems. But, they certainly do not have problem collecting your money….
So stay tuned….. keep your money "safe" with "tony" the Tuner….
July 26, 2008
Steven Wong @ 2:35 pm:
I would advise you find out the card collection and activation procedure before dropping by POS office to collect. The instruction is given clear enough to follow. Unless you are prepared to visit POS office for a few round before to get it right.
Also, you must deposit some fund into the debit card before you can get from POS office, and after got the card from POS office you must login to your web account to activate the card.

Hi everybody, great to hear all the above comments,
I think I also wan apply a card ..hehe..maybe for collection also not bad
August 15, 2008
Blog Marketing @ 12:04 am:
Lankapo: Yes, it is right, but bear in mind, for every call to dial to their customer service, it come with a premium call charges.
Joe Black: I don't think they will reply you on mail, maybe too busy. I would suggest you free yourself one day to collect from POS, otherwise they will cancel it after X days for not pick up by you. You can also call up to check whether your card still in POS or they have cancelled already.
Girl: For collection? What kind of collection you are referring? Collect deposit for sold of unit trust? I don't think that is happening in Malaysia. Maybe you can try

I got my Tune Money Card last April 2008 and I face no problem using the Tune Card.
While I was away to India and Thailand, I did the transaction on purchasing as well withdrawal from the ATM machine…the bank didn't reject it at all.
Moreover, the exchange rates Tune Money give is quite good compared using the Bank Visa Electron and service fee charge is low too. Eg. I used Tune Money RM 1 to THB 10 and PB Visa Electron RM 1 to THB 9.20. Good rate right.

Steve Peter: Good to hear you manage to withdraw successfully.
