Wordpress Blog Chinese Character Issue and It's Solution

In my previous post on PayPal withdrawal guide, one of the blogger from Penang, 紫雨 (purple rain) was trying to left comment in Chinese but not successful.

Today, I stumbled across the solution from Kai Loon's post: Wordpress 2.2.2 Chinese Font Issue. This post suggest me exactly the same issue encounter by Kiat. According to Kai Loon research from Wordpress Support Forum.

For those who upgrade from wp 2.1.3 or lower to 2.2.2. You need to delete the code below in config.php:

define(’DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8?);
define(’DB_COLLATE’, ”);

After I deleted the code from my config.php file, my blog is able to display the Chinese Character now.

If you are using Wordpress v2.2.2, it is better to delete the code before some Chinese bloggers trying to leave comment in your blog.

Updates

By deleting the code above, I couldn't display my RSS Feed well, I have to restore the code back to my config.sys file so that I can make it works. Again, you will not able to see the Chinese character well.
