Ruzanna A. Kadir @ 10:50 am:

Hi there.
I'm not too sure what exactly you're looking for but I've started a blog in Jan 09 with the focus only on books and other books-related topics.
I write just to share and once in awhile I will do a brief research just to answer my own questions like why some authors retitled their books and et cetera. My main aim is to get more people interested in reading and of course share what my reading experiences with others.

May I know what is your content scope?

Siti Noorfaiza @ 12:29 pm:

Hi there,
I am a recently graduated English Language and Literature student from IIUM. I do have a blog of my own but it is just a normal blog in which i write whatever i feel like writing, though there are some reviews on books that I've read.

I am interested in joining your blogging team. However, I'm not sure what type of blog and writing that you're looking for.
I'd like to know what is the topic and content for your blog.
I'd love to be considered working with you.

Megan Long @ 1:03 pm:

It would be a great experience to be able to research and blog what I have learned as a way of living. Please consider me for your blogging 3 - 6 month task. I look forward to learning more!

How many hours you can work in a week on this project?
I am dedicated & am willing to work long hours a day until I enter university, which I would then have to cut down some hours (but it would not be less than 2 or 3 hours a day)

Reason why you want to join (not less than 100 words, and no more reason like "I am interest"):
Besides having an undying passion for writing & entertaining others with words, like any other teens, I’m here for the experience, extra knowledge & also for the thrill of it. Most importantly, I’m looking to improve myself substantially, so that I could one day look back at this time of my life & be proud of my list of achievements instead of an empty void. In the list of achievements, I have also included “create an entertaining blog for everyone to enjoy” because I have always found satisfaction when someone enjoys what I write. Not to mention that I trust that I could write & blog much better with the guide of a very much-experienced mentor like yourself, Mr Steven Wong. But of course, the bonus of being acknowledged for good works & earning the extra pocket money is not overlooked too. Moreover, I am 5 out of 6 in your list of “who should consider being featured bloggers”.

I am very much ashamed. After spending all of my high school years (which was 5 very long years by the way) telling myself sternly to not buy any apple ipod products as one can easily get another mp3 player with more functions in a much cheaper price (which I did), I am staring down in total awe & exhilaration at the sleek, brand new ipod nano on my lap.

I am ashamed but I just can’t help myself. After years of scorning at “the stupid rich kids” for “throwing their money around” when they showed off their brand new ipod products, I have one, right here, on my lap. On the other hand, my loyal not-so-old mp3 player had disappeared right into oblivion (in my shallow mind) when I finally got my hands on an ipod product. I feel utterly hypocritical.

The only consolation was that I didn’t spend a dime on getting it. Yes, you heard that right. It was FREE but yet, I still feel guilty & hypocritical for feeling happy & almost nauseous holding the ipod nano in my hands. How ironic.

Yes. I've been a freelance writer for over a year.

How many hours you can work in a week on this project?
10-14

Reason why you want to join:
I vow to build a strong foundation as far as finance is concerned, so that I could start my very own online business. Apart from that, I sincerely hope that should I receive the acceptance, I would learn more different writing skills, gaining more blogging experiences from great individuals like you. Other purposes of joining the team is to, like how you have stated, drive more traffics to my blog site, and widen my personal knowledge with great exposure. I am very enthusiastic in learning, particularly new things. Other than that, this is definitely a good way to earn some pocket money, and absolutely a way to kick-start my personal plan.

Recently, citizens in Guang Zhou seem to be doing the same thing, the thing which they do keeps reiterate itself daily, and it benefits the hospitals and other health care centers. What are they doing you wonder?

Well, those folks are just making confirmations about their heredity. And the individuals who engaged in such activity are all couples. It's a norm if you see the person who plays as the girl acquire a little life within her tummy, and to top it all, news revealed that 8 out of 10 couples discovered that after they have checked the DNA of their child, it seems that the current boyfriend/husband is not the real father to that child!

This inclination seems to be deteriorating for now, and it worries the whole globe currently. A series of interviews had been carried out within our community and many different views for ponder have been voiced out by our very own Malaysians.

Reason why you want to join (not less than 100 words, and no more reason like "I am interest"):
Well, for the obvious reason, I would like to earn some extra pocket money for myself to spend as I do not want to ask for more from my parents who have already been working so hard to let me pursue my tertiary education. Apart from that, I would also love to add more experience in trying new stuff as I want to have a diversed lifetime of experiences that I will not regret ten years down the road. And being myself, I love challenges. I like trying new things and I am excited when I am faced with waves and waves of challenges. So in a way, as crazy as it may sound, I love problems, in a good way of course.

As I'm typing on my keyboard, over looking the cars from my room on the 14th floor in my hostel, the one thing that comes across my mind is food. I'm a food lover. Who doesn't? Being a Malaysian, I have been been enjoying food from all over Malaysia. I think it is already a norm for us Malaysians to sometimes drive out from our comfy homes in the middle of the night just for the sake of filling up our bellies. I am no exception. I remember going out to the mamak stall once with my brother in the middle of 3 am and we started munching on whatever we see on the menu. As a result, I feel nauseous immediately after that and vommited for the whole week. That was a really terrifying experience as I still do not dare to enjoy any more mamak food to date. But that isn't the end yet! I still have other varieties of food that I have yet to try! So I guess I have to eat moderately everytime I try new food so that I can continue to taste more different types of food straight till when I'm 80 years old. Yeap, moderation- that's the key word.

Having shared my experience here with food, it is alarming to see how many Malaysians are still struggling with their health- obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, you name it. The variety of food that we Malaysians get to enjoy here isn't helping at all. People think that good things are best if they are consumed even more but they have not given much thought on the consequences of it to our health and also our loved ones. Losing a loved one because of health reasons ain't an easy thing to go through as I have experienced the pain of it as well. Hence, I think Malaysians should instill the mindset of "moderation" in themselves not just in the matter of consuming food, but also for other areas as well because every step taken in our lives are potential life changing points.

How many hours you can work in a week on this project? : I won't mind spending 2 hours a day on this project.

Reason why you want to join (not less than 100 words, and no more reason like "I am interest"): I am all about trying out new things within my boundaries, especially things that would give me a return. I don't like doing things for nothing, I believe the opportunities to search for money are everywhere. You just need to know how and where to find it. Yes, I'm sure by this point, my interest in this project is mainly due to financial reasons, but hey, I'm just being honest. Topic : Materialism.

How does one define materialism? In simple layman English, without the frills of course, materialism simply involves the focus on material things, be it handbags, cars or houses while putting other socially more important things on hold. Now what did I mean when I said 'socially more important things'? I guess those are the things that one needs to be equipped with to make life meaningful such as finding pleasure in the simple things at life. This is where family and friends come first. For a certain few however, that is not the case. Their happiness in life are measured by the no of designer handbags stored in their closet or the brand of their many cars in the garage. For what it's worth, I believe materialism is simply a phase all people go through whether they can afford it or not, it can be cultivated or shrugged off. Each to his or her own…..

Topic: Diary

My name is May Yee, 30, graduated in 2001 as degree holder in banking and finance.

If people ask me why I chose this course, I will answer that I was too young to determine my path. Maybe I don't have my ambition since I was a kid, so I just become follower. I picked the course with my best friend as we need patner in campus for 3 years.

I think I was glad to have my best friend as company in the campus. She is one of top students in the course, so I always have her guidance in assignment or preparation for presentation.

The most unforgettable moment is the night we both sleep on chairs at living room. It happens when my best friend accidentally locked her room without bring her key along. Some more, it rain heavily and black out for whole night. I think this is my first time sleep on a chair in dark and it is restless. That moment, I do really missed my bed very much.

Our sweet memory won't be end after move out from campus. Nevertheless, we still learning in our life, no matter in campus or after campus life, right? So, enjoy every moment you can..

Blogging experience (if any): 2 years ago, I created my personal blog and family blog.

Other writing experience? I took a copywriting class in 2007 and created several portfolios. Lots of writing, lots of work, and lots of fun.

How many hours you can work in a week on this project? 15-20 hours a week.

Reason why you want to join (not less than 100 words, and no more reason like "I am interest"):
In view of the current global financial and economic meltdown, lots of people in Malaysia are losing their jobs, and also their main source of income. It is expected that at least 200,000 Malaysians will be out of work. I pray that I will not become part of the statistics. But no one can predict the future. That is why I have decided to be proactive and look for other sources to generate income. I need to start saving in order to sustain my family if I do lose my job. Online marketing is one of the options that I am looking into. But I have no idea on how to do an online marketing and business. And to start and do a business without any knowledge and guidance is almost suicidal. The risk of failure is very great. That is why I am looking forward to be your intern blogger and learn all about online marketing and blogging. I hope to make my way and also make a name in the blogosphere, as well as earning a good income from blogging. At least if that dreadful day comes, it will not be the end for me and my family.

Congratulations to the Malaysian track cycling team, especially to the dynamic duo of Azizul Hasni Awang and Rizal Tisin for their outstanding effort and medals. And extra kudos for the coach, John Beasley.

Rizal was the first of the pair to deliver a medal for his favourite event, the 1 km time trial, and improved his Asian record in the four-lap event. Even though it is only a bronze medal, but Rizal is the first Malaysian to ever win a medal in the event.

Azizul on the other hand did not even get to the final of his favourite event – keirin. But his unwavering spirit and determination has got him a shot at a medal in the men’s sprint final. A decisive battle with Frenchman Gregory Bauge was on the cards, but a tactical mistake by Azizul made the difference. Although he came out second, but his effort was first class all the way.

The results show that with good coaches and excellent training and development program, Malaysians too can conquer the sporting world, or at least give the big boys a run for their money. Our physique may be smaller, but that is not a hindrance for success.

What we need to do now, is to keep backing sports such as track cycling, as well as other sports that have very high potential in yielding medals and glory. The athletes and coaches have shown us their commitment, now it is time for the Malaysian sports authorities to show us theirs – by giving them the financial support they really need.

I think that it would be great to be able to profess your interest and at the same time be paid for it? What else could be more satisfying than that? Writing has been my penchant since young and it would be interesting to get my articles posted and paid for for a change.

i lost my uncle the other day. he was a monk and was my father's brother. ever since i knew him he had been living in a monastery, giving up his life for a religion he had so much faith in. a telephone call changed everything. that night someone phoned my dad. my uncle was on his deathbed. he somehow tripped and knocked his head on the way to the toilet. cause of death- internal bleeding. the funeral was solemn and plaintive. yet i did not cry. i did not know him too well.

death is such a fragile thing. you just need to twist a finger and puff, out go the flames f life. there is no such thing as immortality or eternal life. many a man have search for the way to be immortals, yet failed in the attempt. ancient emperors of china was one considered the rulers of the earth. but did they live forever? a resounding No. death is fair. be it poor or rich, clever or moronic, male or female, you still have to go through that day, the day where your souls leave your body and depart somewhere, or in a more literal sense, death.

my grandpa passed away two years ago. he was my mum's father. we were not that close. he was not my favourite person to heart and i was not the grandson he doted on. yet somehow we just developed a certain chemistry between us. maybe i was fated to be his grandson. during his funeral, many people came with mouthful of condoleces. i did not know them. my grandpa was buried according to the Christian way. hymns and songs of praises were sung. it was a holy and joyous event, so different and disattached to previous funerals i attended, which were sad and tired.

while i am writing this essay, my thoughts wander away. i am thinking of my bus driver, or ah pek, as we affectionately call him. he left last satufday at 2 pm. i was still studying for my exam at that time. he was not married, had no children and the only thing he left behind was the old rickety bus, which was my transport to school for these five years. now i go home by car. without the sun or rain, yet i still reminisce about those days when i joked with friends. Wan Li was one of them. those halcyon days……

these are the deaths that i experienced throughout my lifetime. i do not mean to degrade or blame anyone by writing them down. i just want them to live on in my memories. my writings serve as a tombstone for them, emblazoning down every accomplishments in their short-lived life. they changed me in ways so severe that i am at a loss of words. through their departures, they taught me to appreciate every second of my life, to revel in every single beauty of nature, to live life as it should.

i have always marvelled in the stories that mum recounted, especially that when i had pneumonia. with a vivid flick of the hand, an artful pout of the lips, it was as though i was firsthand on scene. mum told me that i was real sick when i was small. doctors said i contracted pneumonia. mum took a temporary sick leave from her job as a teacher and cared for me. now i am strong. i owe it to her. with a near death experience, i tasted the true love of a mother, that of a great, if not greatest, mother on earth.

i have always pondered on the question on life. why are we here? when will we leave? no doubt, i am terrified of the great uncertainty looming ahead of me, like a deep abyss sucking everything in its path. it sucked the lives of milo, my uncle, grandpa and most recently, the life of my bus driver. when will it take away my family members, my teachers and friends? maybe i should just stop time.

yet nature takes it own course. through the deaths of loved ones, i have begun to develop a different outlook on life. i have started to absorb in the tranquility of nature, the challenges of life, the mountains and rivers ahead of me. i seek to attain happiness in this short life of mine. 'happiness is not a destination but a journey.' maybe it is. live is simply simple. live every second as if it were your last.

take a deep breath and feel the oxygen gushing in……

Reason why you want to join (not less than 100 words, and no more reason like "I am interest"):

Okay. Here, i will be giving you the reasons as to why i want to join this blogging team. Since you've already mentioned not to say its because I'm interested then i guess I'll dash that point out. I recently moved to Perlis to further my studies. Coming from a not-so-well-to-do family, my income is said to be quite limited. So I'm looking for alternatives to increase my income and to help my family as well. By joining this blog team, i would not only be able to make some pocket money but also improve my typing skills and my English as well. Apart from that, I've developed an interest in blogging since 2007 but i never really had the chance to do very much due to the activities during my high school days. Now that I'm in a college that doesn't have curricular activities, you can say I don't have much to do. With me so used to having something to do all the time, having so much free time makes me restless. So let me just summarize why I'm interested in joining this blog team. Its to increase my income, improve my typing skills and fill up my time with something more productive than just laze around and sleep all day. I wanted to say I'm interested but i think you're already bored with those reasons. So yeah. That's the reasons. I hope its solid enough. ^^

MYSELF

What can I say about myself? Well lets see… Where should i start? Oh yeah… Introduction. I don't think I'll write my name, age or date of birth since I've already written it earlier. Do you want to know what my name means? In my religion, Taufiq means HELP or ASSISTANCE. So far, I've lived up to my name. At least that's what i think. Haha. Most of the time, apart from doing sports which i don't do anymore due to the nonexistence of facilities in my so-not-cool college, and some injuries i sustained during the past holidays from PAINTBALL and SKATEBOARDING, most of the time, you'd see me talking. YES. I TALK A LOT. SO WHAT? Lol. Sometimes, i think i should stop talking for awhile and listen more. But my friends say, if i don't talk for a day, something must be wrong somewhere. And if i don't talk, i would feel a surge rushing through me asking me to talk. Haha. Is it okay for me to insert HAHA in my sentences? Because i do laugh a lot. I don't like seeing people frown or feel sad. I feel responsible whenever I see someone frown or is feeling down. Okay. SOME OF YOU might say its none of my business, but i still feel that way. Whats your definition of being happy? Well, i don't know yours, but mine is to see everyone put a smile on their faces. Yes. I love doing that. Its okay if i end up getting blamed for or get hurt during the process, but everything would feel all better when i know I've made someone happy. Is this more than 150words yet? Or should i write more? Lol. Now let me just summarize what i was trying to say. I can be very random and most of the time i would elaborate on things that sometimes is not needed at all. I love sports and trying to make someone smile everyday is what i enjoy doing most. In general. I'm flexible.
